Yellowing SAC

I have a several year old SAC that backs up to the compost pile. The leaves look like they have iron chlorosis (sp?). They are chartreuse with dark green veins, almost mottled looking. The other two SAC that don't back up to the compost pile are dark green. Other than the color, it looks great and is growing very well.

Given it's location, you would think it was low on nitrogen. On that theory, I gave it some lawn fertilizer, but it didn't seem to help. I've also been told that pale leaves on clematis is magnesium deficiency, but am reluctant to put salts in our clay soils. I just keep forgetting to pick up some ironite.

Any suggestions?
