Exchange 'wilted' clematis with new one on same location

Some weeks ago I ordered a Niobe via a post order company. Upon receiving this clematis I already suspected some wilt and "died" just 2 - 3 weeks later showing typical wilt signs (whereas the other 3 species I bought at the same time all do well).

My question: could / should I just remove this "wilted" Niobe and plant a new clematis on the same spot? Will this increase the chance the new clematis also will get wilt? Or should I just be patience and wait if the current "dead" plant will revive?
