Clematis in a raised bed??

Hello. I will be planting a few clematis in a raised bed along my shed in the backyard; but my question is how deep are they supposed to go? I mean below the level of the soil in the raised part or deeper into the actual ground. The raised part will be only about 4 to 6 inches above the actual ground. Thanks for any help!

Most clematis benefit by being planted deeper. The buried underground stems can sprout new roots and send up more shoots. Planting it 4-6 inches from the top of the raised bed should be fine. Raised beds do dry out more quickly so don't forget to give it extra water, especially the first year.
