Sapphire Indigo Clematis

Hi there - just had an unfortunate accident that decimated my Sapphire Indigo entirely above the ground (no green stems). Dug it up - root stock appeared very healthy but definitely tore it up trying to get it out of its awkward location. That said - anyone have any experience or advice for me as I transplant and try to save this little beauty at this late time in the growing season? Thanks....Kelly

Replant under the best possible conditions and keep well watered this summer. Clematis prove to be amazingly tough plants and often come back from all sorts of abuse :-). You may very well see some green yet this season but I wouldn't be alarmed if you don't. Sometimes it can take a little time for proper recovery. I would expect to see decent growth next season.
