I agree, it does look like Omoshiro. It is much more rare than Proteus, so you are lucky :)

Thanks... yesterday, I suddenly realized that I probably had my marker in the wrong place! It is definitely the Omoshiro that I moved last year, after it bloomed, and I must have put the marker on the wrong plant... so that was easy! thank you for your replies and the Omoshiro people get a medal! Now, I must research that other one and see if it is in fact Proteus. My yard is very open, with a street on either side, so I have put up a 7 ft plastic lattice and will have my 30 odd clematis climbing up to make a spectacular wall of privacy... should look good in about two years...
