RE: anybody try patio clematis?

I plant them directly into the ground. Cezanne and Bourbon have overwintered just fine. Bourbon is currently blooming and Cezanne is about to. I aquired Versailles a few weeks ago.

If I had them in pots, I'd have to overwinter them in the garage or something since it gets down to -20 F here.

RE: anybody try patio clematis?

I have had Angelique and Versailles for 3 years and they have been duds for me. I get 3-5 blooms a year off them. They wilt for me also. They didn't live up to the hipe for me. I have been growing them in large pots. I haven't thrown them out because they were expensive, and I keep hoping they will do better. I hope you have better luck with yours. Karen
