Isn't New Dawn a reblooming climbing variety?

I have New Dawn and White Henryi planted together. They are both just starting to bloom now. White Henryi is a very robust grower for me, so it predominates!

Hi Matt in Mi - Some people have the reblooming version -- mine does not rebloom. It is in it's 4th season and hasn't had any rebloom yet.

Maryann - I bet that looks pretty together. I wanted to get a contrasting color - like puprle or maroon, etc.

I have a New Dawn that does rebloom, but mine is just beginning its first flush. Clematis that are blooming simultaneously are:

Type 3's:

Viola
Odoriba
Margot Koster
Hagley Hybrid
Pink Fantasy
Petit Faucon
Betty Corning

Type 2's:

Kacper
Prince Philip
Piilu
Niobe
Ramona (really just ending)
Blue Light

Some of those mentioned are pink, which might not be a great match. I have my ND paired with Viola for the flush that's about to happen, and Blue Belle (the type 3) for what happens later. You can look up these pictures at the Hull Database on Clematis on the Web. Have fun deciding, though I recommend type 3's with a rose, as the trimming is much easier.

My New Dawn is blooming now with clematis Ernest Markham, which is a large flowered variety. However, I have several viticellas and they are all blooming now as well: Perrin's Pride, Betty Corning, Polish Spirit, Blue Belle, Abundance, Little Nell and Alba Luxurians. Plant a couple of different clematis with your New Dawn, it can handle it. As I said, I have Ernest Markham planted with it (one on each side of the arbor) and I've also added Alba Luxurians. I'm planning to add another one possibly this fall but haven't decided which one.
