hi all, a couple of days ago we had devastatingly hot, humid weather. I watered and watered my clematis but my big jack suddenly, like in an afternoon, wilted all it's blooms. possible the roots got too hot? I didn't have mulch at the base. now a few of the buds are opening and are not looking too bad. should I cut all those wilted blooms off? or is it still early enough to cut the plant back by a third?
appreciate any input. I love clematis but am finding them a bit more difficult than my other perennials. thanks, andi
