The color will vary with temps,time of season,age etc..Did it not bloom last year?..Mine are pinkish with very pale anthers...unmistakeable..check out my link

Thanks, Jeanne. At 61 years old I find memories are not always easily accessed or accurate. I think the plant I bought had the pink blossoms when I bought it last summer. I bought many other clematis at the same time and trimmed and pinched them when they were planted so didn't have any late bloom. This is actually the second summer so guess they are only 1 year in the ground.

I was hoping someone would tell me that either I mixed up the labels or it was mislabled or that yes, there will be pale pink blooms later.

Mnwsgal- since we are in the same zone thought you would be interested to know that my Comtesse De Bouchard also has mauve blooms. It is a baby as I just planted last fall and I noticed it had two flowers yesterday that were not pink either, Hopefully ours will be pink when it they are more mature.
Anyway, I was suprised to see the color also.

Hi, Lois, thanks for sharing your experience with Comtesse.
I grew one many years ago and it always bloomed with the pale pink flowers. I bought another this spring in bloom and planted it in the front bed with Jackmanni. After the bloom I cut it back and don't expect any more blooms this year as am pinching to help grow roots.

Let's keep each other informed as the season progresses and also next year's bloom.
