Hello Clematis Fans,

I live in South East Massachusetts, zone 6. I have several varieties of clematis and have been growing them for several years now. I have Gillian Blades, Pricess Diana, Ville de Lyon, and Jackmanii.

I'm currently visiting my sister in San Diego California and she has a pretty flower, out in front of her house, that she claims she it is a clematis of some kind.

However, it has woody stems. Do some clematis have woody stems??

Can anyone ID this pic? Also, can anyone give advice on the leaves. It looks like something is going on with that...

Any info would be helpful and much appreciated.
