I bought a 3g clematis, in May or June, and planted it under the canopy of a camellia. Ass the camellia has branches that are at ground level, the vine got not no direct Sun. My assumption was that it would quickly grow to the outside of the canopy and into the morning sun.

It now has been a couple months and all the leaves have fallen off. Will it survive there and send out new shoots, or should I remove it to the sun until it recovers, or should I consider it compost?

I had been watering deeply about once a week, unless it rained sufficiently, from the time of planting.
