This is a picture of Miniseelik. I would hardly call it red; at best a purple leaning towards reddish.

It is a slow grower, getting maybe 8-9" it's first year after being planted the previous fall. Then 15+" with a few blooms the next. This year, its 3rd, it got about 3' and had about 20 cute little blooms. It's adorable, though it will require patience. I do have a rather cool z5 climate with long winters. Enjoy it!

I did an Ask.com search with images and found some photos, and like you mention it is hardly red. I have it planted in an area where the color you show should go well. I like the form of the bloom of your clematis and the color. I sure do not know where they get the red with white bar unless there are some imposters. Some photos show a light reddish purple, but that is as close to red as I have found.

It does not seem to be a widely grown clematis, at least not with anyone visiting the Clematis Forum. I also posted my question on the Perennial Forum hoping someone might have it in their garden.

I was trying to figure out what to pair Miniseelik with, but was confused about the color after seeing the photo in "The Pocket Guide to Clematis" where it looked very much red. Anyway, I am thinking of pairing Miniseelik with Kardynal Wyszynski. Another possible pairing would be with Ashva. Any thoughts in the subject? Thanks!
