If you don't mind smaller blossoms Piilu, Little Duckling, also has good contrasting bars. This photo included both new and fading blooms

Mrs. N. Thompson had great bars for me, in shade, but I haven't noticed it this year.

Not bars since they are wider bands with a narrower rim, but Ville de Lyon and Venosa Violacea have two shades in the petals.

these are great. I love the smaller flowers, so piluu (I have 2) will be a treat when it finally starts blooming. love the Vagabond, Annette, but have never heard of it much less seen it for sale. maybe Brushwood..... Tell us about your handsome black trellis- is that painted wood? Great way to cover the chain link. Some brilliant gardening friends in CT, Les and Monique, had their back neighbor put up a bright green and white shiny plastic lattice fence on his side of their shared chain link. They then wove dark green fake greenery into their side (full shade, back of an 8-10'deep bed). Looks terrific.
