Prunning of Dr. Ruppel

My Dr. Ruppel clematis is in prunning group#2 and it has bloomed several times this summer but the wood trellis behind it is almost rotten and I want to install a new metal like trellis. How am I going to untangle the existing vine to remove it from the dilapadating trellis? The landscaper that does any prunning and mulching for me comes today to do the Fall maintainence. What if I have him to cut it back like one would do a group#3, so we can remove the old trellis and install the new one that I'm going to go to Home Depot this morning and buy? The vine has been established since 2007. Will it not flower in the spring if I allow him to prune it as a group#3?
