Clematis Mandshurica fragrance

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has Clematis Mandshurica and can comment and describe the fragrance.

Is it the wafting type fragrance?

Or is it the shove your nose in the flower type?

Any other info regarding this clematis will be appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Bob

This was my first year growing this clematis, but it did bloom for me. It certainly was not overly fragrant, but was really pretty.

Thanks pmermakov for responding and the beautiful pictures. The flowers reminds me of summersnow "Paul Farges" clematis.

Can you describe the fragrance, like what does it remind you of?

From my research, it seems that there is a direction correlation between fragrance and the age of clematis. The older it is the fragrant becomes more pronounced :)

Also, probably by the next year, when it grows as tall as 1 meter (3.3 ') it will start climbing.

Just to post an update for anyone interested in this clematis.
Note these are observations on 3 year old plant, which has finally flowered.
Well worth the wait, I'd say.
The fragrance is almond scented, much like rubromarginata.
It wafts and takes one by surprise, which is quite agreeable.
It doesn't however, fill the air with constant fragrance, which is somewhat a relief, otherwise the patio will smell like a marzipan factory :-)
