| Hi everyone,
I saw this picture and fell in love with the clematis. Can anyone tell me what it is, or recommend one in the same color of purple-blue? I live in hot, inland Southern California, and it will be on a south-facing trellis that gets morning and afternoon shade. I can give it extra water. Renee |

| Or maybe a bit bluer. |

| Blue colors are difficult to photograph accurately, so keep that in mind when you look at photos. I often use searches and books as well as the link below (use blue as the tepal color and leave the rest blank unless you have particular bloom times in mind) to find flowers to check out. You can also type in one word of a plant's name in the first line of the form to get more info on that particular plant. I really like blue-purple shades. Here is a list of clematis that I grow with flowers in that mid blue-purple color range and that grow well for me. I'm not sure how they will grow in So Cal.; hopefully someone from your climate will weigh in. Some other blues to check out that have caught my eye, but I haven't bought (yet): |

| I would be willing to bet that that photo is enhanced with Photoshop and that Clematis isn't that blue. I would suggest calling that company and asking them which one it is. The photo should be one of their landscape jobs so they should know. The Type III viticella group is known to do well in hot climates

| Yes, I was hoping for a viticella. I like Roguchi, Daniel Deronda, and durandii very much. I have not seen Roguchi locally sold though, and there may be a good reason for that. I bought Betty Corning, but it looked gray in my garden- too much competition from all of the vivid colors- so I gave it to my mom. Thank you for all of the suggestions. Now I have names to search, instead of mindlessly clicking through photos on HelpMeFind. |
