I'm thinking about underplanting my new clematis (Galore) with nasturtiums in the spring. What experiences have you folks had underplanting your clematis with various annuals? I like the idea of using annuals for underplanting as they tend to have shallower root systems, less likely to interfere with the clem's roots. Plus, you can change them out year to year. Or maybe I just have my garden rose colored glasses on and it's a terrible idea.
