Too Cool To Plant ? (Plus Other Questions)

Hi everyone,

I told my neighbor who just got an order from Michigan Bulb about the buy one-get one free offering on the Sweet Autumn Clematis for sale. My neighbors only come up on the weekends from Maryland but she ordered the plants to put in the ground up here. I wanted to ask if it's too cool in my zone to plant anything else for the year? No below freezing temps yet, but we're having nights in the mid to upper 40's.

This is where I was thinking of putting it. Here are two pictures of the little porch.

Side where SAC will grow up. It gets bright shade all day until afternoon.

These pictures were taken earlier in the summer, but you get the general idea.
