I have been lusting after my neighbors clematis and, unfortunately, she has no idea about the variety. I have searched the Hull UK site and also Joy Creek Nursery. The only one that looks promising is Ernest Markham. It is Nov and this is still blooming...it's vigorous! Please see attached pics.

I don't know who it is but it is really pretty. Perhaps you can layer a cutting?

yes, I'm hoping she'll let me layer a cutting but I would also love to have a variety name for it. I was so sure that I would find it at the Hull UK site :(

This is Ernest Markham from my garden. I just went out and picked a bloom of it. Its the only clematis with blooms still left. The bloom below is the same one taken in different lighting. Both photo colors is off a bit but the darker one is lighter than shown but closer to the color and it isn't brown at all like I'm seeing on my computer but has pink overtones in it. I may not be describing it accurately but thought I would give it a try to give you an idea of what Markham clematis looks like

thanks for taking the time to post a pic maet! Maybe what my neighbor has is an Ernest Markham. Just the fact that you still have blooms in Nov in zone 5 means I need one! :) Do you know if the number of petals is critical to identification?

I don't know if the number of petals is critical to identification. This is one of my newest Clematis and only the 2nd year for it. I'm hoping to see lots of blooms next year.

The number of petals can vary on the same plant so it isn't a reliable id source.
