Oh good grief. Clematis indoors for the winter...

So, here's the thing. I planted a Piilu this fall - it was a VERY healthy plant. A few weeks before Thanksgiving (we'd had several snows, and the plant was dormant), it ended up getting dug up.

My husband was gentle with it, and plopped it into a pot with some dirt, but then it sat outside in freezing weather for many days. I had wanted to replant it, but the ground was frozen. So, thinking it was dead I brought it inside. Where it of course promptly sprouted.

It appears it will be indoors for the winter, as I doubt I'll get it to go dormant without killing it. How do I care for it indoors? Is it likely to get spider mites? It has sun, and a grow lamp. Also, this sounds silly, but is it poisonous? There is a high chance that my cat will prune it for me this winter. (He ignores them outdoors, because he prefers to eat delicious roses.)

Thanks for any advice; this thing is tenacious, and I want to keep it alive!

Best,

Lara
