clivia seeds help!

tiarella

I have a clivia that bloomed 2 years ago and I didn't remove the three seed heads just to see what would happen. They stayed green for a long time and over a year's time have turned reddish. I put the plant outside in the shade (last year I gave it too much sun and it looked like some one threw bleach on it. I looked at it today and two of the seed pods had dropped to the ground but they were whole; not eaten by an animal, so I opened them up and took out the seeds. Now what do I do? The flower is standard orange color. We are moving to SC SOON so how do I take care of these plants down there? I usually just add some sand to improve the drainage and water once a week to every 10 days in the winter. Some one told me to withhold water for a month in the winter to get them to bloom. Any suggestions are welcome!
