When to re-pot?

I got this plant two summers ago, and found out this winter...on GardenWeb thank you...that it was a Clivia. It made two pups last summer. It has been living in a 6"x6" pot for the last two summers. Is it time to repot? If so, how much bigger can I go? They like to be smooshed a bit, don't they?

Hi,

Clivias can tolerate being severely root bound. Many of the growers have them in 2 inch band pots until they flower. I've even seen some 20 leaf clivias with their second or third stalk and an offset or two in these tiny pots. In other words, they tolerate being rootbound, but once you pot them up, they thrive. I'd probably go up to a 3 gal pot and use a mix with a fair amount of peat and perlite. Let me know if this helps.

Thanks Craig, silly question here...3 gal pot? Would that mean like the size of 3 milk gallons? Also, do I re-pot the pups separately or leave them with the main plant?
