an unplanned germination experiment...

Last year I planted 2 sets of seeds, about 2 months apart with surprisingly different results that I thought might be of interest here. The first pot was good quality seedling mixture with perlite and other goodies, and the second pot was put together in a rush, and was straight peat moss, nothing else. Both pots got the same environment, fertilizer, etc. What a difference!

The second pot, planted 2 months later, produced seedlings with 3x-4x the root structure of the ones in the 'better' mixture. I never realized that clivia liked acid that much, but I may use straight peat from here on in for all my clivias!

Has anyone else had similar results?

Thanks!
