How to divide a potted clivia

Help! I have a 10 year old clivia that is rootbound with lots of babies. i tried to yank one out, but that was obviously the wrong way to go. roots everywhere all throughout deep pot. does anyone live in the Phoenix area and willing to assist me? thanks.

Deb, I've divided mine a number of times. Just de-pot and separate as best you can, repotting each in a separate container. It's not as hard as you might think...

You must get the whole plant out of the pot before you can divide. If it is planted in a straight sided ceramic or clay pot you will probably have to sacrifice the pot to save the plant. I have learned to always use a pot with a good taper to grow Clivia, or a plastic one that can be cut off. Al
