I get seeds, but they are always small, and don't turn into anything, then swrivel up What gives? The flowers are beautiful though. :) Arum

Is it fresh seeds from your own plants or seeds you bought?

Yes, they are from my own plant, but the seed pod dosen't produce much of anything.

RE: Seeds?

I'm not sure if I see the same thing -flowers drop but pod remains for a month or more before yellowing and falling off. I think in my case that they just didn't fertilize even though I made sure that the pollen (very obvious and yellow) made contact with the central female part of the flower.

Some plants are self sterile.
Or, polination was done after the stamen got dry (aged). I prefer to polinate early morning as soon as possible after the flower opened.

RE: Seeds?

Hi,

The seed pods take 9-12 months to mature. If they are small and turn yellow the first month, they weren't successfully pollinated. Over time, the pods can swell up to even walnut size, but generally at least as big as a larger marble, then change color when they are ready to be harvested. The seeds generally are about 1/2 a small marble size or slightly larger. In North America, we usually harvest between Dec. and March. The warmer areas fall into the earlier harvest period.

Yup, no pollination. :) Arum
