Fisher, is your Clivia dormant? I really don't know how Clivias do in your locale, since I'm in IL.
Here in Il, Clivias are in dormancy..how about there? Is there any growth or have they stopped for the year?
Also, when do you start seeing flowers? For instance, mine bloom anytime beteween FEb and July..
If you're super careful dividing, there shouldn't be any problem doing it now. I wouldn't wait until they bloom, (unless they're still too young to flower)
One more thing, if these babies do flower, and you separate, there's a chance you won't see any flowers next yr..Toni

The best time to divide landscape clivias in CA is Nov. There are as many suggestions on how to do it as there are clivia growers. Basically, any of the larger ones will do fine with dividing now. Most people will let the damaged parts dry for a couple days and treat with an antifungal and/or root tone before replanting. I've done it both ways, and I really haven't noticed much difference. Just don't let the soil stay too wet around the fresh wounds for a few weeks. GOod luck.

Craig, thanks for the advice. I've never thought of "hardening" off the cut section that way. I'll give it a try. BTW I grew up in Sacto. and dated a girl named Ruggles. Damned if I can remember her first name but she went to McClatchy high.
