Question about renting gardening plots...

Posted by mlkls1974 Zone 5 (My Page) on

We own several acres in Indiana - we are interested in renting plots for local residents for vegetable or flower gardening.

Can anyone give me any information on the average cost and size of plots, what some of the stipulations are, and what is included in the annual rental such as water, etc?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

HAVE YOU TRIED THE AMERICAN COMMUNITY GARDENING ASSOCIATION'S WEBSITE-- WWW.COMMUNITYGARDEN.ORG OR YOUR LOCAL USDA EXTENSION SRVC, FOR INFO??

I can only tell you how it is in my urban community garden. Plot size varies, but is more or less 10'x 15'. Membership dues (which includes the plot and water) is $10.00 per year. Responsibilities include showing up for monthly meetings and monthly garden clean ups, keeping plot and surrounding pathways weed-free, and filling water barrels a few times during the growing season. The link below is to my Community Garden. Check out the by-laws if you're interested.
