Should I approach?

My local church/school has a big area of land that I think would be great for a community garden. Some ways to use it---maybe use the produce in the school cafateria, sell at the yearly fair.

Would it be worthwhile to approach my priest about this? I'll ask you guys for help later if you think it worthwhile!

Anytime you can put fallow land into a productive state is a good thing - in my opinion. You just need enthusiastic gardeners!
I have been looking for a community garden in my community as I find myself in an apartment this year and next, but no luck. Just a lot of whining about how there is no land and nobody to look after it, etc., etc.
