Community Gardening?

I have never heard of community gardening before. What is it? I came across this forum as I was looking for information on how to live with a busybody neigbor who lives in 1/2 of the duplex we live in. My husband and I bought our half 6 months ago, and now I'm having regrets. She's always THERE! and she is an animal activist with noisy dogs.

We were attracted to the place because she keeps her grounds beautifully gardened and landscaped...(and a waterfront view) but like I said, there are some draw backs...she is always THERE. Thanks

Community gardening is not a new idea. It's been around for centuries.Probably, the Victory Gardens during and following World Wars 1 and 2 are the best known CGs.
CG has many definitions, but basically, it's a garden available to the community members, with food or flowers grown by the members of the community. As opposed to backyard garden, done by one or two gardeners, to benefit a few.
CG has many benefits, including providing high quality food, fellowship, exercise, a chance to meet and spend time with neighbors- something seldom seen these days.
While your busybody neighbor does show the community her work, she would not be too happy to share any of her flowers. That's backyard gardening. In a community garden, the fruits of a community's hard work can be shared in the community.
Hope this helps. Peace and good gardening.
