majesty palms

Hi,
I seek some advise on majesty palms. I bought two majesty palm trees in June. They did very well outside around my pool. I would like to keep them for next year, but I don't want to take them in my house. they got too big and I heard once in the house they are prone to spider mites. anyway, I was wondering if I could throw a heavy plastic over it when it gets too cold, like October or so. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
