poison flower?

| i live in a condo and we are planting a community garden. we have a few trumpet flowers and they are doing beautifully but someone said that they are very poisonous; is that true? we've always had it at home and i have never heard that. please let me know before the beauties get pulled out of the garden. thanks. lisas |

| Why taek it out of the garden, just make certain no kids put any part of the plant in their mouths, many plants are poisonous, yet with good education you can teach toddlers to stay safe. |

yes they are. I lost my favorite kitty to a leaf of one. It killed her within a few hours of ingesting it. The plant was outside on my driveway and she had a acre of yard to chose from. Why she cose a dried up leaf that had fallen on the sidewalk is beyond me. I have grown these things for 4 years, I bring them inside in the fall to winter them over. I never imagined they would be a threat when they were in the yard. It was a wake up call for me. When it is mentioned in every catalog or book that a plant is posion they mean it!! It was a horrible death. I am still trying to forgive myself for being so lax about having it around. |
