I have been trying to determine what might look nice with the yellow of thermopsis but can't seem to hone in on the flowering time exactly - in my scheme of spring perennials. I know it's pretty early. As early as peonies? Have looked through my best companion books but no one seems to mention thermopsis. Any ideas?

Hi scenery! I'm not sure if the timing would be right in your area, but where I am in southwestern Ohio Thalictrum kiusianum, a purple dwarf growing about 8-10" tall, blooms at the same time as the thermopsis. It's a pretty combination, the soft yellow and the lavender.

Forget me Nots are a great combo. The Blue and Yellow are great together and they definitely bloom at the same time here.
