Azalea Island Bed

I have an area with two dogwoods and a few very small azalea bushes. I would like some suggestions on what I can plant with these that will add color until my azaleas fill out.

Fairy primrose (Primula malacoides) is an annual spring bloomer (mine last into early summer).
Cyclamen will also like the semi-shade.
Another annual if you can find them, is Schizanthus. Very colorful for semi-shade.

Caladiums are beautiful with azaleas & they love shade. There are LOTS of lovely patterns, too.

I finally got tired of waiting for my azaleas to fill out, and this year I planted silver castle artemisia, and coleus. It looks very nice.....I just cut the coleus back down to height of the azaleas a week ago. Next year I will repeat. To get extra artemisia was amazingly easy. I cut tips off new growth in spring and put them in dirt. ALL rooted, and I kept putting new out with azaleas. THe contrast in colors is nice.Coleus root easily in water from cuttings off existing coleus you get in spring....so, all in all it is a cheap filler.
