 o
moss with maples

I have small grove of a dozen Japanese maples, and am looking to establish moss throughout the 750 square foot area. I am inspired by the moss garden Saihoji in Kyoto. I am looking for advice on how to get this large area covered with moss effectively in my Zone 5 garden.

RE: moss with maples

there's actually a good 'moss, fern' forum here- they have all the formulas, and the methods of propagation for you...

the big thing is site preparation, since any weed standing when you seed the moss will soon have a nice shield...and weeds in your moss is a PAIN!
