Raspberries, are they ok with varigated vinca?

| The vinca was here and I needed a spot for some raspberries, so that's where they ended up. Will they work together? I can cover up the vinca with newspapers and mulch if I have to, but I'd hate to do that. Anything else that works well with raspberries? Before when we had them, I didn't have anything else with them except for weeds! We're not talking a bunch here, just about 5 plants so far.
