What Can I Plant With Delphinium to Bloom AFTER Delphs Are Done?

I have a lot of very tall hybrid delphiniums planted together in the back of a flower bed that butts up to my front porch. They put on a beautiful show when they bloom, but when they are done blooming in June and I cut them back, there is a big, ugly hole left in my flower bed.

I'm looking for some ideas for plants that would work well to interplant amongst the delphs. Something that will begin blooming about the time the delphs are done. It can't be something too short though because the delph area is at the back of my border.

Anyone have any good ideas or links?

Thanks for your help.

If it's a sunny area, cosmos would be tall and can put on a later summer show. They might be wider than the Delphs, but I love them.
