Any one know Why?

I've recently read on this forum, to not plant Tomatos with Pole Beans or any of the cabbage family.

Tommatos are my main garden crop, followed by pole beans and then brussle sprouts (these are what my kids will eat)

A few squash, cucumbers, and melons, radish, and rutabage also.

I usually set my beans up on a trellis system a row from the tomatos. Is this bad? how far apart do they need to be?

The brussle sprouts I usually sick in around the outside of the garden as they are shorter and won't block the sun from the taller plants in the middle. How far away is far enough from the tommatos?

Does any one know why these are bad next to each other?
