shrub beneath Jap Stewartia?

| I am looking for suggestions for small compact shrubs for unerneath a Jap Stewartia tree. I don't want to cover much of the bark (its main attraction) but the bed that its in looks bare. Any suggestions for shrubs that would offset this trees natural beauty without covering it up??
The shrubs face North and would get part sun during spring/summer only...am and pm sun. Its shaded most of the afternoon. |
