 o
radishes and squash

I posted this in the vegetable forum then wondered if this is simply a general 'companion planting' question. I heard that radishes planted with squash (zuchinni) will help keep away the squash vine borer. I'm willing to try it, but how exactly do I plant the two - in the same mound, side by side, alternating rows? Any tips?
Thank you.

RE: radishes and squash

Last year I made the mistake of planting the radishes in the same hill as the squash. bad idea. you need to let the radishes go to seed and flower and it was just too much for the mound with both the radishes and the squash. this year I've planted the radishes beside the mound and think it will work much better. You could probably even plant small groups of radishes between your squash plants and it would work well too.
