What Companion Plants with a 'Hot Pink' Carpet Rose?

| I received a groundcover/carpet rose in a hot pink color for Mother's Day. I planted it in the sunnier end of a shade bed that is under a huge tree. I am confident it will receive enough sun to keep it happy-4-6 hrs. I would appreciate ideas of what color plants to use to compliment the bright color of the rose. I need suggestions for fairly compact plants-annuals are fine too, as I only have a fairly small amount of space yet to fill. The only other plant I have in that end of the bed is a variegated Japanese Iris. Some of the other plants close by in the larger, shadier part of the bed are: green & white variegated hostas, chartruese/green hostas, lavendar pink daylilies, a 'Peach Blossom' astilbe, 'Blue Cadet' hostas, and 'Amythist Mist' heuchera. |

Try anything in white or soft yellow. There's some nice marigolds available in a cream color. Blues & purples will help to "cool off" the hot shades like in Ageratums (aka floss flower). Moonbeam coreopsis would be a nice companion. It's a delicate looking light yellow daisy shaped flower with ferny folage. All of these would look good with the other colors you already have. Let us know what you do! Show us some pics! Tarheelgardener |

| i've got a beautiful Spirea (chartreuse with pink flowers) beside a hot pink dianthus (same color as the other pink flowers) it's an eye catching color combination and definately sparks up that corner of the bed. of course - if you are toning things down a bit then go for pastels in pale pink, creamy yellow or pale lavender and whites. :) FRiz |
