Opps! What's likely to happen?

I'm new to the whole companion planting concept, and have a row of elephant garlic planted.

My problem is that I also have a row of peas planted right next to the garlic...and I've just found out that the two are incompatible. Does anyone know why they are incompatible?

The garlic isn't lethal to the peas is it?

not lethal, but depending on the soil, and the rest of the growing conditions, you could get smaller peas, or a lower pollination rate, or something.

sometimes, plants make a LOT of difference. Garlic hasn't been much of a problem for me, even when it's non-compatible, it seems to do as much good as any harm it might do.
