Dwarf cherry trees interspersed with arborvitae?

I am wanting to plant some dwarf cherry trees with some existing arborvitae that were planted before I moved here. This year, the Arborvitae were attacked by bagworms, but otherwise are well established.

Would there be any problems with this interplanting?

I've read that arborvitae prefer slightly acidic soil, and have not tested the soil.

Also, would there be a problem with the cherries (fruit) if I used a systemic bagworm treatment on them?
