Wow, a very nice selection of witches' brooms!
    Congratulations!
In which area were they found and who's gonna propagate them?

Dax, it's to bad that you didn't post this subject on the discussion site...

Keen eye, Rob. Nice work by you and Dax for posting this.

One question...the pic of the tree for Picea glauca 'Woodbury' & 'Greenwood' is the same. A mix up or are there two in there?

Wow Dax! you have been working your tail off! thanks for doing this! Its alot of work sorting through all the pics.
Thanks to everyone else for the kind words.
tj,there are two brooms in that tree,my wife was with that day and had pulled the car around to make my walk shorter. I walk past the car to check the last tree, walked back to the car and looked in the tree above the car and there they were!'Greenwood' was a very tight ball and ten feet below was 'Woodbury' looked to be a very old broom, bottom and center is pretty much gone.
    love the hunt!

    Guys,
earlier on statistical grounds I thought, that north America may have 100-200.000 brooms on trees. Having seen the activity of Rob, I m not very sure in it. Maybe even 300.000, if Rob not stopps discovering brooms...
Robby, you cant survive without an own nursery.

Zsolt, thats a pretty good pat on the back! Thanks!I am amazed at how many I have found in such a short time frame,Its almost all corn and soybeans here! I feel so lucky with each one found. Just wanted you to know I have spent many hours on the gallery side checking out the work you have done with the Breeders Hall! then you put me there,WOW!I thought maybe in a few years.LOL. Now I have to find more brooms, your kill'n me here!Much thanks!
I don't know about a nursery but something smaller and see how things go.A gas card seems more logical for the hunt!LOL.Talk more later.Big thanks!

    Rob,
Some nice broom finds on Picea glauca. One good find of Picea glauca is worth 10 Picea abies brooms. There just to many that look alike at 10 years of age. I have not found any brooms on the corn stalks here either.
Welcome to the Brotherhood of Broomhunters.

This broom is in the same cemetery as 'Nellie'. It is named for the town where it was found Picea glauca'Lyons'. I am a little late on posting this and the ones below. Also this and the brooms below have been sent to the grafters last winter. Thanks again Dax for starting this post and getting me started. They are posted on this side of the forum to keep them all in one place. Hope you enjoy and thanks for all the positive replys above!

Back to Iowa! This broom is in a cemetery that is very close to where I grew up and as kids we would walk through to play in the fields and streams. I was a lucky kid to grow up so close to the edge of town, its not the edge of town anymore with 40 years of houses, malls and interstate highways. So many memories at this place, and to this day it is a destination for many bike rides! Maybe I will find another broom here someday! We call this one Picea glauca 'Graceland'
