Looks like the roots were compromised...especially if it still needs a stake. Did you ensure that water got to the root ball? How does it look from the other side and was there a guarantee?

Thanks, tj. The other side looks better. Water to the root ball? I believe so. I took great care to plant it and water it...and then winter hit;(

There is a 50% guarantee. My hubby thinks they may just say it's deer damage. I think we paid $100 for it. It was so pretty before! I'm not sure it will ever get back to that?

I am a Hinoki Lover too. I grow this gold series hinoki right tfront of my garden. I am so supprise instead its can still live well in such a hot weather in Malaysia.. : )
