Ghost town in this thead. Is a species plant allowed?

A species plant is most definitely allowed and welcomed! Thanks for reviving the thread, Will!

Will, that pic is really putting the "dawn" in Dawn Redwood!

That 'Schirrmann's Nordlicht' is a great little tree. It will be interesting to see what shape it develops into as a mature specimen.

I stumbled across this one while hunting online for new replacements for my heat zapped Abies. OMG! It's a must have! I hope Buchhlolz has these show stoppers available next spring so I can order one through my local nursery. click the link!

That is a nice plant, garen. Makes one wonder how it gets enough chlorophyll.

Tommy, there's some green in it's needles which you can see better at the second pic Buchholz is showing...

A good representative close up of 'Schirrmann's Nordlicht' foliage. I will also add this conifer was planted this Spring. It is in intense sun light for 8 hours with many days of 100 F.+ days under its belt. Never a sign of stress or burn.

Metasequoia species on the left, 'Ogon' in the center, and a Cunninghamia lanceolata, 'Glauca' on the right. The 'Ogon' has been in the ground 6 years. The species, 26 years.

Nice pictures botann-Mike. I saw the first 'Ogon' in the country at Barry Yinger's Asiatica before it closed. It was a quite large tree, at least 50'. Wish I'd snapped a picture.

Like the MGs. Did you guys stake those plants at any point?

My 'Miss Grace' was purchased at that height, but I have heard that it does require staking when young to develop apical dominance.

I read in the Talon Buchholz Flora Wonder Blog that Talon intended to grow 'Miss Grace' as a ground cover and it will grow that way naturally when young but his employees staked up the first grafts behind his back and they ended up growing into nice weeping trees.

I have six Dawn Redwoods. Here is one that suffered ice damage from last year. (2011-2012) They all took a hit, but this one took the most. Note all the broken off branches as well as some partially broken.
