Have you contacted your state agricultural office? I buy 500 pine tree seedlings a year for 28 dollars. The state agencies will often help when you are doing a job this big. As far as shipping thirty plants in that size range the cost would be pretty expensive. Just something for you to consider if yo are looking for wind breaks the pine seedlings that I planted 5 years ago are over ten feet tall.

Another good reason for planting small, is that they will establish good strong root systems much better. Large plants often have a poorly developed root system (from being potbound in nurseries for long periods) which makes them very liable to blow down after a few years.

Resin

I didn't know that Resin so that is good information to have. I have actually started buying some select trees larger and don't generally stake them. I may do that before winter sets in given what you have said. I will also try to get a pic of the pine wind breaks and post this weekend. Even though they are not rare collector items the mixture of loblolly and white pines I find very attractive as you have pines that are blue in front of the vivid greens.I have been bordering a seventy acre area over ten years now, plantng 500 seedlings a year.

what you are thinking about.. is a wind break ... and most states have a soil conservation program .. and they are the ones who usually sell the plants cheap ... though i cant speak for ND
