Yep, looks like a self-sown Yew Taxus baccata sapling. I'd say 8 or 9 years old, from a whorl count.

However, I always thought Taxus baccata was a lot darker, like the one in the photos underneath. Am I mistaken and is the yew in the photos underneath not Taxus baccata? If so, what species is it then? Or are they both T. baccata and are they just two different varieties?

you cant compare a plant in the ground.. in what looks like a very shady spot.. with one in a pot.. in perhaps better circ's ...

pot the first.. set them together.. and let us know in fall if they look more alike..

also.. your potting media.. is too much peat.. for trees ... peat has a tendency to hold too much water ... new post if you want info in that regard ...

The spot where I found the potted one was even more shaded so I don't think the other one is lighter because of worse conditions in that regard.
A mature tree of the non-potted one is I think as light green as mine since I think I found its parent (a very old tree in the middle of the village, few 100 meters away), which has the same light green foliage.
While the dark one is probably descendant of one of the numerous taxus hedges around here.

Was this a yew that came up on its own (self sown) or did you plant it?

They were both self sown.
I found the potted one under a bush in our garden and the other one in our front garden.
The dark one is very common around here, many use it for hedges.

When I have the chance I'll take a picture of the mature one (of which I think it is the parent of the non-potted (the light green) yew).
