that's a common site around here after this past summer this plant species definitely suffered much more than others

too bad the casualties happen randomly in these massive rows of Thuja.

I lost 4 'Smargard' this year. They were boundary line screens and did not receive enough water.

Neighbor lost Thuja 'Green Giants' because of the same issues.

Yes the heat was also a contributing factor but with enough water survival rate goes up dramatically.

You know the story...yours are toast for the most part.

Another change you can make while updating your database.

Get rid of the ugly brown Thujas and plant something more drought tolerant instead...

Not to dispute your analysis...it is valid.

My Smargard' not entirely browned out at first The exposed side to the Sun were totally browned out. Later on the rest of the plants followed suit. Just saying...

I've seen the same thing Dave mentioned. In fact the majority had "some" green by the end of fall. Most are completely brown now. All they needed was some water but if I had a penny every time I saw a homeowner watering established plants I wouldn't have a single penny.

These are just two homes that are within view of inside my house. Another good reason not to plant a row of the same plant single file like this. Its a shame the ones in the first pic died to cover that view of the hideous out building. I'll just have to wait for plants. You can see the leader peaking up...so not to far away!
