I was out broom hunting last fall and was surprised to come upon this J.virgiana with its weeping form. I have seen uncountable numbers of these in the normal form,almost never see odd forms. the DNR and farmers are hacking down huge stands of these. They are considered weeds in these parts by some.I was told prairie fires kept these trees from spreading,now people keep the fires from spreading! Its a changed world! I will try to collect wood from this tree,I will name it Juniperus virginiana 'Little Sioux'.
Named for the river drainage that it was first seen.
