Another of our founding fathers has passed away. If you were active in ACS in the Midwest you likely knew personally -- or by reputation -- Dr. Clark West who was much admired for his passion and success at growing conifers from seed. He was fond of Thuja occidentals and there is a collection of his cuttings at the Rowe Arboreteum outside Cincinnati which he supported generously.

His cultivation of conifers wasn't surprising but what few of his ACS friends knew was that this modest man was a renowned medical research scientist who made significant contributions to the treatment of kidney disease in children.

ACS members are appending Comments to his obit.
